The Secretariat is pleased to present the Calendar of APA meetings in 2009. Date and venue of almost all Sub-Committee meetings are confirmed. The hosts Parliaments have offered generous hospitality (Accommodation, Meals and Local Transportation) for three days for two delegates from each Member Parliament participating in the Sub-Committee Meetings.

Therefore, the APA Secretariat looks forward to an active participation by all Member Parliaments and in order to have enough time to organize the meetings, requests the completion of the Registration Form to be returned to the Secretariat, not later than 1st May 2009. .

Meeting of the Sub-Committee on Environmental Issues: Global Warming, Climate Change and Planting Billions of Trees throughout Asia will be held in Seoul, Republic of Korea on 1-2 July 2009.

All APA Member Parliaments are cordilly invited to participate in the meeting of this Sub-Committee

The meeting of the Sub-Committee on Alleviating Poverty in Asia, scheduled to be held on 9-10 March 2009 in Siem Reap, Cambodia, has been postponed.More>

Meeting of the APA Sub-Committee on Protecting and Respecting Cultural Diversity in Asia took place in Seoul, Republic of Korea, on 21-22 August 2008. This meeting was hosted by the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and delegates from Afghanistan, Bahrain, Cyprus, Iran, Jordan, Korea (Republic of), Kuwait and Syria participated in it. The meeting of the Sub-Committee on Challenges and Opportunities of Globalization in Asia, scheduled to be held on 12-13 August in Kabul, has been cancelled. The National Assembly of Afghanistan made all the necessary arrangements for this meeting; however, the number of confirmed participants did not reach 7 as required.

The Sub-Committee meeting will be held before the meeting of APA Executive Council on 6 October in Tehran under the chairmanship of Afghanistan.

The Sub-Committee on the Friendship Pact of Asia held its 1st meeting on 23-24 June 2008 in Manama, the Kingdom of Bahrain. APA Delegations from Bahrain, Bangladesh, Islamic Republic of Iran, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Kuwait, State of Palestine, the Russian Federation, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Syrian Arab Republic participated in this meeting.
