APA Economic Committee Meeting successfully wrapped up in Manama

Parliamentary delegations representing 17 APA Member Parliaments gathered in Manama to share their views and deliberate on some economic issues of key importance to Asia and other regions across the world.
Convened on 14-16 September at the invitation of Bahrain Council of Representatives in the capacity of APA Vice-President, the meeting considered several  draft resolutions on variety of vital economic issues, including environmental issues, sustaining economic growth efforts, supporting implementation of sustainable development and water and sanitation in Asian countries 
Participants also thoroughly considered and adopted the amendments proposed by some member parliaments to the draft resolutions under consideration by the SC Committee.


In another development, heads of APA delegations present in Manama met with H.E Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives., and H.E. Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council alongside the Committee Meeting. 
The two Speakers affirmed the Kingdom’s strong commitment to deepening ties with Asian nations, highlighting the role of parliamentary diplomacy in fostering regional cooperation and sustainable development. They also emphasized Bahrain’s focus on building constructive parliamentary partnerships across Asia.
The meeting also heard opening addresses delivered by H.E. Ahmed bin Salman Al Musllam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, APA Secretary General, H.E. Mr. Mohammad Reza Majidi, H.E. Mr. Rizvan Nabiyev, in the capacity of the APA President’s Representative, and H.E. Ahmed Sabah Alsaloom,  the APA Vice-President and Chair of the Standing Committee Meeting on Economic and Sustainable Development.
In his opening remarks, H.E, Al Musallam called on the APA to launch a parliamentary project and a structured human rights initiative to support human rights and strengthen rights awareness across Asian countries.
He highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to supporting Asian parliamentary work, and emphasized that the Asian economy is a key pillar of the global economy and that regional economic cooperation is important to ensure stability, integration, and sustainable growth.
The Bahraini Parliament Speaker, H.E. Al Musallam also drew attention to the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, noting the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people, and stressed that Bahrain firmly believed a just and comprehensive peace was a strategic necessity for security, stability, and prosperity.


Next speaker in the opening ceremony was H.E. Dr. Mohammad Reza Majidi who warmly welcomed the participants and thanked the gracious hospitality of the Council of Representatives and its leader for hosting this important event.
Dr. Majidi also expressed his deep appreciation for Bahrain’s longstanding commitment to advancing Asian parliamentary cooperation and enhancing frameworks for future collaboration among member states.
As regards the unfolding turbulent situation in Gaza Strip, APA Secretary General stated that absence of rules-based international system and unrestrained unilateralism governing the world has bolstered Israeli regime to continue its unchecked war crimes in Gaza, Syria and Lebanon with impunity. 
He also added that the Zionist Entity’s launch of military aggression against Iran that claimed a death toll of over 1,000 innocent civilians, followed by its most recent new phase of terrorist strike targeting residential areas in Doha in flagrant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the State of Qatar calls for immediate international action.
Meanwhile, H.E Ahmed Sabah Al Saloom in his capacity as APA Vice-President noted in his opening remarks that today’s global developments required the APA to enhance strategic partnerships in trade, economy, labor, investment, business, innovation, energy, climate, and the environment, while engaging the private sector and chambers of commerce to build strong partnerships for the future.  He also added that regional integration and economic cooperation remain among the APA’s top priorities.
On his part, H.E Dr. Rizvan Nabiyev, representative of the APA President, also addressed the opening ceremony and emphasized the growing importance of parliamentary diplomacy in addressing global challenges and enhancing multilateral cooperation in Asia.
