APA Executive Council Concludes Meeting in Manama

The Executive Council of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), the Assembly’s principal decision-making body, successfully concluded its meeting in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, following comprehensive deliberations on the items contained in its agenda. The Council adopted a series of decisions and recommendations, which will be submitted to the 16th APA Plenary for final consideration and approval.
Convened in the Bahraini capital, the session brought together APA lawmakers from across Asia who reviewed reports of the APA Bureau meetings held over the past year, assessing both the progress achieved and the challenges encountered in advancing the Assembly’s objectives. The deliberations resulted in the adoption of key measures aimed at strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, enhancing the effectiveness of APA mechanisms, and improving coordination and coherence among member states.
Among the notable features of the Council’s discussions was the consideration of proposals concerning the formulation of an Association of Secretaries-General of APA Member Parliaments, as well as the prospective establishment of Associated APA Centers and Institutions. These initiatives were pursued as part of a broader strategic vision to reinforce the institutional standing of the APA, expand its functional capacity, and deepen its role in addressing parliamentary issues of common concern across the Asian region.
The outcomes of the meeting are expected to play a substantive role in shaping the deliberations of the forthcoming 16th APA Plenary, reaffirming the Assembly’s commitment to dialogue, consensus-building, and collective parliamentary action in Asia.
