APA Secretary General Met with the Head of APA Delegation of China
APA Secretary-General Dr. Majidi held a meeting with Dr. Yongguan Zhu, Head of the APA Delegation of the People’s Republic of China on the sidelines of the 16th APA Plenary Meeting in Manama, Bahrain,
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on prospects for future cooperation. Referring to the concept of the “Asian Century” and China’s prominent standing on the Asian continent, the APA Secretary-General invited the Chinese delegation to play a more active role in APA meetings and activities.
Dr. Majidi also raised the issue of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chinese side in order to establish a framework for enhanced mutual cooperation.
For his part, Dr. Zhu expressed his satisfaction with the successful organization of the 16th APA Plenary Meeting in Bahrain and commended the efforts of the APA Secretariat in advancing the objectives of the Assembly. He also expressed China’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with the APA in the future.
Dr. Zhu further conveyed his agreement to submit the issues discussed during the meeting to the National People’s Congress of China and to inform the APA Secretariat of the outcomes in due course.
Both sides also emphasized the importance of expanding academic and scientific cooperation as part of their future collaboration.
