CIS Secretary General met his counterpart in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly

Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Mr. Dmitriy Kobitskiy met with his counterpart, Dr. M. Reza Majidi , Secretary General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) on the margins of the 16th APA Plenary Session, currently underway in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain.
At this meeting the two sides emphasized the pivotal role of parliamentary platforms as a cornerstone of parliamentary diplomacy, highlighting their contribution to dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding among member states. They also reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening inter-parliamentary engagement in addressing regional and global challenges.
During the discussions, Mr. Dmitriy Kobitsky, Secretary General of the CIS, provided a detailed overview, comprehensive briefing on the mandate, key features, and activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS. 
He outlined the organization’s initiatives and meetings dedicated to major global issues, including counter-terrorism efforts carried out in cooperation with the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism Office in Doha. The exchange of views underscored the importance of enhanced collaboration between CIS and APA as  two influential parliamentary platforms contributing to peace, stability, and international cooperation.
The APA Secretary General, for his part, referred to the extensive working agenda of both organizations and noted that the 16th APA Plenary Session in Manama coincides with the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. He underlined that  this milestone occasion marks two decades of sustained efforts to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy and promote closer cooperation among national parliaments.
