Head of Cambodian Delegation met with APA Secretary General

Head of the Delegation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Mr. NGY CHANPHAL and his accompanying delegation currently in Dushanbe to participate in the meeting of the APA Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs, met with Dr.  MAJIDI, Secretary General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA).
During the meeting, Mr. CHANPHAL expressed his appreciation for the convening of the Committee meeting in Dushanbe and welcomed the opportunity it provides for Asian parliaments to exchange views and further strengthen parliamentary cooperation. 
He then conveyed Cambodia’s interest in hosting and chairing a future meeting of the APA Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs for the 2027–2028, emphasizing the importance of Asia’s rich and diverse cultural heritage and the need to further promote cultural understanding and cooperation among the peoples of Asia.


The Cambodian side also underscored the significance of parliamentary platforms such as the APA in fostering dialogue and cooperation among Asian parliaments and in advancing parliamentary diplomacy.
Dr. MAJIDI warmly welcomed Cambodia’s initiative and expressed his appreciation for Cambodia’s active and constructive participation in the work of the APA.
 He also highlighted the longstanding cooperation between Cambodia and the APA Secretariat and noted Cambodia’s valuable contribution to the activities of the Assembly.
The APA Secretary General further underlined the importance of parliamentary diplomacy as a complement to traditional diplomacy, noting that parliamentary cooperation can provide an additional channel for dialogue, mutual understanding and cooperation among Asian countries, particularly in the social and cultural fields.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared interest of Cambodia and the APA Secretariat in further promoting intercultural dialogue, preserving and promoting Asia’s rich and diverse cultural heritage, and strengthening parliamentary cooperation as a meaningful contribution to peace, mutual understanding and closer relations among the peoples of Asia.
